Kughler, 24, 3457 W. 6925 South, Monday pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated robbery before 3rd District Court Judge Peter F. Leary in connection with a June 9, 1981, robbery at Ream's Bargain Annex, 2783 S. State. Judge Leary sentenced Kughler to serve a term of five years-to-life at the Utah State Prison.

Thirty-three other felony counts, stemming from three separate incidents, were dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea. Kughler pleaded guilty to a charge that he stole more than $19,000 from the employees of the store after he planned a holdup and sent several cohorts into the store where they threatened employees with firearms. Deputy Salt Lake County Attorney John P. Soltis said that the numerous felony charges facing the defendant basically stemmed from three incidents: the robbery at Ream's, an April 16 armed holdup of a Utah State Liquor Store at 1450 S. Main, and a June 3 holdup at another Ream's store at 4730 S.

Redwood in which more than $5,000 was taken. Judge Leary, who committed Kughler "forthwith" to the Utah State Prison, sentenced the defendant following a short pretrial conference Monday morning.
