The Person and Context (Pac) lab overseen by P.I. Zayas examines the relational mind – the ways that people automatically, effortlessly, unintentionally make sense of others and how these processes shape behavior and daily experience. The lab uses a variety of techniques from implicit measures, behavioral assessments, and neurophysiological tools.
The Social Perception and Intergroup (In)equality Lab (P.I. Krosch) investigates social and economic factors that amplify discrimination, and the basic social-cognitive, perceptual, and emotional processes through which this occurs. We take a multilevel approach to research, integrating ideas and methods from experimental social psychology, cognitive neuroscience, behavioral decision-making, and psychophysics.
While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
The Research Aide supports the lab by assisting in gathering and organizing data in support of a variety of research projects; participant recruitment and scheduling, and administering protocols; helping to develop study materials (including developing surveys in Qualtrics); conducting web-based literature review or search for related research as directed; coding of data; scheduling interviews with potential research assistants; ordering supplies and maintaining lab equipment; providing information or instruction on policies/procedures to research assistants involved in conducting studies. The position is geared toward motivated individuals interested in pursuing an advanced degree or career in psychology in the future, as it will also offer the opportunity to develop independent research projects with the possibility of publication. This position will be split between both the PAC Lab and the (In)equality Lab.This is a 12 month, full time position with possibility of extension depending on funding.Required Qualifications
