MARSHFIELD − Summer is in full swing. And while there are an abundance of events and entertainment to keep people of all ages busy across Marshfield and surrounding areas, that doesn't mean there is a shortage of business news to share.
The Chick-fil-A food truck is coming back to Marshfield today, and you won't want to miss that. I enjoyed my first taste of Chick-fil-A last week when the food truck made its first stop in Wisconsin Rapids, and I'm counting down the days until they come back.
I reached out for another update on the Slim Chickens restaurant that has been talked about since fall 2022 for North Central Avenue and have an update for readers on its future.
Tidal Wave Auto Spa opened its first location in central Wisconsin earlier this month at the site of the former Rose Bowl Lanes, with several more planned in the future. And nothing says summer like ice cream, and we have updates on a long-standing ice cream shop that has added a second location downtown.

Chick-fil-A food truck returns to Marshfield today
The Chick-fil-A Tri-State Food Truck will return to Marshfield today. It will be at Gross Buick of Marshfield, 1620 N. Central Ave., from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27, according to its Facebook page.
Launched in January 2023, the mobile restaurant brings Chick-fil-A sandwiches, chicken nuggets, waffle fries and other menu items to local sites. The food truck visits communities in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin that do not have a Chick-fil-A restaurant nearby.
It has made several stops across central Wisconsin this year, including Stevens Point, Wausau, Weston and, most recently, Wisconsin Rapids.
Customers can either travel to the food truck and order in person, or they can use the Square Mobile app and order ahead of time, and when they get to the food truck, they can go to the mobile order line, check in with a staff member and receive their order. Ordering is only available on the day the food truck is in your community.

Slim Chickens restaurant is still delayed
Issues with a developer continue to cause a delay in construction of a Slim Chickens restaurant in the city.
Rob Gerstenfeld, vice president of real estate and construction for Slim Chickens, told the Marshfield News-Herald Monday that the issues are ongoing and they hope to have an update in the next two to three months.
Franchise owners Chad and Nick Sternitzky told the Marshfield News-Herald in spring 2023 that they planned to break ground for a Slim Chickens restaurant in June 2023, with construction expected to last about six months. They anticipated a late 2023 or early 2024 opening date.
But those plans were put on hold.
"We still anticipate the store going under construction, but until items outside of Slim Chickens' control are worked out I cannot say when," Gerstenfeld said in December.
GMX Real Estate Groupproposed building a Slim Chickenswith a drive-thru, outdoor patio and parking in September 2022 on North Central Avenue and North Peach Street, between Starbucks at 1707 N. Central Ave. and the Bread & Butter Shop convenience store at 1727 N. Central Ave.
Slim Chickens features classics such as chicken tenders, chicken wings, sandwiches, salads, chicken and waffles and more.
Marshfield would be the company’s second Wisconsin location. ASlim Chickens restaurant opened Jan. 16, 2023, in Appleton.
According to its website, the company has more than 200 locations with seven restaurants in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois and more in development.
Tidal Wave Auto Spa car wash is open
A new car wash now sits in part of the space that used to be home to Rose Bowl Lanes, next to Culver's and across the street from Festival Foods.
Tidal Wave Auto Spa held its grand opening June 14 at 1510 N. Central Ave. in Marshfield. It is the fourth location in the state, with another opening soon in Weston and plans for several more across central Wisconsin.
“We opened our first locations in Idaho and Wisconsin earlier this year,” said founder and CEO Scott Blackstock. “We’re pleased to continue our growth in both states ... with the grand opening of our Pocatello (Idaho) and Marshfield washes. Both locations are designed to make car care easy, efficient and enjoyable and built with industry-leading wash technology for an exceptionally clean car."
Tidal Wave offers single car wash options as well as monthly and annual membership plans.

Rose Bowl Lanes closed Sept. 1, 2022, and the building was demolished last summer.
A developer is considering building a restaurant on the remainder of the site at a later date, City Administrator Steve Barg told the News-Herald in August.
Hub City Ice Cream Co. opens second location downtown
Hub City Ice Cream Co. announced the opening of its second location earlier this summer at 111 W. Second St. in downtown Marshfield.
The downtown shop, which is located across from Wenzel Family Plaza, is open from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. It also offers extended hours for concerts at the plaza and other special events downtown. Watch Hub City Ice Cream Company's Facebook page for updates.
The ice cream shop's original store, which opened in 2013 at 1610 S. Central Ave., will continue to operate as well from noon to 10 p.m. daily.
