Is Barack Obama's Safety a Huge Concern for Americans? I have lived through heartbreaking political assassinations, where supposedly "lone nuts" have taken the lives of important people in the political world. John F. Kennedy was the first, followed by his brother, a Candidate for the Presidency, and Martin Luther King, an inspiration to all who want equality in this country. Attempted assassinations also took place, with Gerald Ford in danger, and Ronald Reagan barely escaping with his life.A recent article from AP stated concerns that Obama's followers had complained that there was not adequate security at his Houston speech, where thousands of people gathered to hear him. Obama has brushed off concerns for his safety, but to those of us who remember those years of grief and anxiety, it is a major issue. My question is...should this be a genuine worry and security stepped up for Barack Obama? What could be done to protect him from harm?

Why is it that conspiracy theories flourish around events like 9/11 and JFK's death but....? never around FAILED events such as the assassination attempts on Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford?Theories abound when it is a successful (if I may use that word) attempt, but never when the attempt fails. One, is that it doesn't have the same psychological impact when perpetrators succeed ( as they did with 9/11 and the assassination of JFK ). When the perpetrators fail, it can easily be forgotten because it is of relatively little consequence.
